Round table on the topic "The role and participation of civil society in the implementation of Kyrgyzstan's international obligations to combat torture and the provision of reports on the implementation and relevant rights".
On October 20, Bishkek hosted a round table dedicated to the session of the UN Committee against Torture, which will be held in November this year, where Kyrgyzstan will submit its Third periodic report on the implementation of obligations under the Convention against Torture, and the Coalition against Torture in Kyrgyzstan it's Alternative Report. The partners of the event were the Institute of the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic, the National Center for the Prevention of Torture, the OHCHR Regional Office for Central Asia and the World Organization against Torture (OMST). The event was attended by members of the delegation from Kyrgyzstan, who will present a national report, representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Supreme Court and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as representatives of international and non-governmental organizations.
Gulshayr Abdirasulova, Director of the "Kylym Shamy" Foundation, spoke about the problems and prospects of Kyrgyzstan's implementation of the decisions (considerations) of the UN Human Rights Committee and the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women. She noted that the main problem remains the lack of mechanisms for state bodies to review decisions of the UN human rights treaty bodies.
